Living with an Ice Cream Obsession

It’s 5 p.m. on a Monday, and you can’t wait to get home and dig your favorite ice cream flavor out of the freezer. It’s 3 o’clock on a Saturday, and you’re meeting a few friends at the local ice cream parlor for a snack. Sound familiar? If so, you might be battling what we like to Ice Cream Obsessioncall an ice cream obsession. No worries, as we have it too! Stop battling your ice cream obsessive brain and starting learning how to live with your ice cream loving heart.

Embrace it – Do you find your mind wandering to thoughts about sweet, delicious ice cream? We know what that’s like, and the worst thing you can do in this situation is scold yourself for having a “weak” moment. If you love ice cream and thoughts of it plague your mind, roll with it! Daydreaming about your favorite flavor isn’t going to hurt anyone, nor is it going to add inches to your waistline.

But I’m Eating Too Much! In our humble opinion, there is no such thing as “eating too much ice cream.” That being said, we understand your concern for your ice cream habits, and that is exactly what they are — habits. Although not everyone agrees, most experts say it takes 21 days to break a habit; repetition coupled with a desire for change will yield you successful in changing those eating habits. Now it only takes about a week to form a habit, so don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re not the only one battling this one.

Designate Time – If you want to cut back on your ice cream intake, don’t go cold turkey. Designate a time, place, or day of the week to enjoy your favorite ice cream and don’t punish yourself. Ice cream brings you joy and there is nothing wrong with treating yourself — we do it all the time! Ice cream isn’t the enemy, so don’t shun it from your life; embrace it when you can, and find time for it in your busy schedule.

We’re living proof that you can live with an ice cream obsession – it’s not so bad.
