Ice cream is part of the American culture. Some people are achieving the American Dream thanks to ice cream.

A recent article in Forbes outlined the number of female entrepreneurs who have made their names in the ice cream game.

Jenni Britton Bauer is the force behind an Ohio-based ice cream shop with more than a dozen locations across the country. The ice cream created by Bauer is mixed with essential oils. She must be doing something right. She also has released cookbooks.

Robyn Sue Fisher took her Stanford MBA and apparently began thinking about ice cream. She now runs four ice cream shops in the San Francisco area. Her ice cream is made with liquid nitrogen.

These are just two examples of the partnership between ice cream and the entrepreneurial spirit. It’s also good for business. According to the Forbes article, current retail sales for ice cream are relatively “flat” at around ten billion dollars a year.

A family-run business here in Connecticut has been producing delicious, homemade ice cream for decades. Praline’s Ice Cream was first established 30 years ago, back in 1984. It was started by Donna and the late Joe Torre and began as one shop where the ice cream was made in the back room on a daily basis.

Today, there are several Praline’s locations in Connecticut. The ice cream is still made locally in Wallingford, Connecticut at a manufacturing distribution facility owned by Donna Torre. Donna knows that the customer remains number one and that philosophy is reflected at all Praline’s stores.

A reminder: Fall is here and Praline’s has delicious flavors and ice cream pies filled with the taste of fall. If you are thinking about a delicious Thanksgiving dessert, try the Apple Crumb Ice Cream Pie or the Pumpkin Ice Cream Pie.
