Connecticut is already seeing plenty of snow and it’s not even Christmas yet. Some people love the snow. Others…eh, not so much.
However, it turns out that snow might be delicious, when prepared properly. Some people take that snow and look at it as dessert. This is something that all ice cream lovers will want to learn about. If you would like to try snow ice cream, read on:
First, go outside and gather some snow. If you are in Connecticut, this should not be a problem. This is somewhat important: Make sure the snow is as clean as possible.
Gather about six cups worth of snow. You’ll need about five cups of sweetened condensed milk. Have one teaspoon of vanilla. Once you have all of those ingredients, it will be time to start mixing. Keep tasting as you go. Add more sweetened condensed milk and more vanilla. Once you’ve decided your snow ice cream is just right, you can serve and eat immediately. You can also store the snow ice cream. Pack it in a plastic container and stick it in the freezer until you are ready to serve.
There are variations to the snow ice cream recipe. If chocolate is more to your liking than vanilla, take the instructions above and swap out the vanilla for powdered chocolate milk mix or chocolate syrup.
There are variations to the snow ice cream recipes above. Some recipes call for the snow ice cream call for regular mile rather than the condensed version. Other recipes call for cream and one recipe suggests the addition of one egg.
In addition to the chocolate and the vanilla concoctions, there are also suggestions to try butterscotch, almond flavoring or eggnog (easy to find this time of year).
Of course if you want to keep your snow activities centered on things like skiing and shoveling, you can still head down to a great local ice cream shop and choose from several homemade flavors.
