Cone or Cup?

February 1, 2013

There is nothing you love more than a scoop of your favorite ice cream. At home, you usually eat it out of a ceramic bowl; however, when you go out for ice cream, you alwayscone vs cup seem to find yourself facing the cone versus cup dilemma. Since you’re used to eating out of a bowl at home, you’re inclined to do the same at the ice cream parlor. On the other hand, a cone would be a nice break in your ice cream routine. If choosing between cone and cup is a difficult decision, let us help persuade you to choose the former. Here are four reasons you should step out of your comfort zone and opt for the cone.

Slow down – How fast do you eat ice cream out of a bowl? If you’re used to eating large, mouth-filling spoonfuls of ice cream, switching to a cone could take some getting used to. Eating a cone will help you slow down and enjoy. Because you’re forced to lick rather than chew your ice cream, cones simply last longer. You’ll also notice that the flavor is enhanced as your tongue absorbs the flavor.

Avoid a Brain Freeze – Brain freezes occur when cold temperatures come in contact with the roof of your mouth.  When the temperature of your mouth returns to normal, the rush of blood seemingly “back to your brain” can be very painful. When you lick ice cream from a cone, the icy substance has a chance to warm on your tongue before coming into contact with the roof of your mouth.

Added texture – Ice cream is cold and smooth, so what better way to finish your dessert than with the change of texture and temperature of a cone? Warm your pallet and awaken your taste buds with the new, yet subtle, flavor of your waffle ice cream cone!

Go Green – Eating ice cream out of a bowl at home is fine; however, ice cream parlor bowls are usually made out of paper or plastic. Help promote a healthy environment by conserving paper and plastic products. Save a cup, save a tree!

Cup or cone? When it comes to going out for a nice scoop of ice cream, this question is simply a no-brainer.
