Neapolitan – Coming in fifth place, 4.2 percent of the population is in love with this crowd-pleasing flavor. When chocolate, strawberry and vanilla join forces, how could you not love it? Neapolitan is sure to be stocked high in the freezers of families who can’t seem to agree on one flavor, and with an ice cream like this, why settle for anything less?

Strawberry – Ah strawberry. When 5.3 percent of the population reaches for this bright, refreshing flavor, it is easy to understand why it holds its fourth place rank. Just enough fruit and just enough sugar make this delightful flavor perfect for any season. Add bits of strawberry and you’ve got a dessert made in heaven.

Butter Pecan – This one is a crowd shocker. Coming in third place this delicious yet commonly overlooked flavor is gaining popularity. With a strong vanilla base, a healthy amount of pecans, and a tasty dash of butter, this third place winner is an all American favorite.

Chocolate – The flavor you’ve been waiting for, chocolate. Although not at the top of the charts, chocolate comes in securely at second place. When 8.9 percent of ice cream lovers reach for a scoop,  they find their bowl commonly filled with rich, creamy chocolate.

Vanilla – And now for the winner, you guessed it… vanilla. Even though many believe that chocolate has surpassed vanilla in popularity, vanilla continues to hold its reign as ice cream king. With almost 30 percent of ice cream lovers being faithful to this timeless flavor, it looks like chocolate still has a long way to go before it becomes most popular. For the time being it looks like vanilla will continue its traditional reign.
